I did a lot of research on what ingredients I should focus on: what natural ingredients were most conditioning for my severely dry, sensitive skin as well as what will be beneficial to soothing my irritated scalp but offer my hair the luster we all desire. And voila! With my list of natural butters, oils and such in tow, I began searching for everything I needed to contrive my own skin and hair care beauty compounds.
Of course, a few things were a given, such as Shea Butter and Jojoba. Other things I learned during my research, such as Avocado Oil is rich in Vitamin E, which is an essential skin conditioner. Avocado Oil is also an affordable mode of delivering Vitamin E, much more affordable than Vitamin E Oil itself. Avocado Oil is also a source of Pantothenic Acid, or Vitamin B5, and I have always heard that is a fundamental nutrient for healthy hair. So, Avocado Oil was a no-brainer. Definitely on the list. Not to mention, I am a huge fan of avocados.
Once I purchased several ingredients, I sat down and considered all the research I had done, and like puzzle pieces, I put together well-rounded ingredients to accomplish optimal results for dry, sensitive skin. I also took into consideration what ingredients would best work to lull my elder daughter's psoriasis and moisturize her scaly, dry skin patches as well as my younger daughter's eczema. By the time the supplies arrived, I had several recipes for skin cream, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, beauty bars and lip balm (because I am a lip balm addict).
Through trial and error, I discovered what best resulted in each product's desired effect, texture, consistency, appearance and fragrance. It was a fun process. Never before had I enjoyed crafting anything, so my new-found hobby opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me.
It didn't take long for me to decide to share my creations with the world.
